Sailing, I Am Sailing, Home Again, Across the Seas …
Dreaming Big – most people would expect a story about going forward.
But Dreams can also take you back – to where you are rooted, to where you belong.
You see, all children dream about the future.
Where will I live? What will I do?
Whom to be with, with or without children.
For hours and hours we fantasize – the world is presented to us as our oyster.
With ourselves as the hidden shiny gem.
Most of Our Dreams Never Materialise
As we grow older, we are pushed into being “realistic”.
Be sensible. Choose the safe road.
The pearls lose their shine …
Our dreams are dismissed as fantasies.
Forget about becoming an astronaut. Or a ballerina.
Playtime is over, it is time to face the real world.
The world in which everything is real – apart from you.
The real you is being swamped by convention. Rules. Unwritten yet restricting none the less.
You are hardly ever smart rich beautiful funny connected enough to make your dreams come true.
So You Settle
For less? At least for something else than you envisaged.
Your passion subsides. Your drive shrinks. Your dreams vanish.
Feeling like everybody else. Or even worse, like a nobody.
That is what reality does to you.
In the words of Will Smith:
Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity
What if we were to push behind this average state of survival?
If we chose being over doing?
Breaking free from the same same old boring chains of deemed security?
If we were to change directions in our career or relationship?
But How? You Feel So Tired
At times you do not even feel anything anymore.
Going through the motions. Re-enacting Return of the Living Dead. Over and over again.
I Will Show You How
Step One: Wake Up!
Smell the coffee (soy, regular or bulletproof).
Dig deep into your memory: what kind of activity sparked you up when you were a kid?
Sports? Dancing? Being with your friends and family?
For in those memories, in those forgotten dreams and desires you will find the answer.
Your inner child is hidden but for sure not gone – ready to run outside to play as soon as you open the door.
If you need someone to light that torch in your deep dark brain: I will be there for you!
Cooking up a tasty brew that will warm your heart and soul.
